Research and Development Projects

Research & Development play a vital role in the overall development of Water Supply & Sanitation Sector. R&D is very essential and important for solving the problems on design, implementation of the projects, appropriate technology for cost reduction etc. There is a need to promote and support applied research in collaboration with the field departments and academic & research institutes.

Research & Development programs have been included in the 7 th Five Year Plan and continuing. The Ministry has sponsored various R&D projects & studies to academic & research Institutes on the aspects of water supply and sanitation including solid waste management.

Some new research studies are likely to be taken up during 2006-2007. The following is the ongoing research project :-

CPHEEO monitors the physical progress of the ongoing projects and offers views/comments on the interim/draft report for modification/incorporation in the study reports. Final Reports on the completed projects, received in the CPHEEO/Ministry, are forwarded to the field agencies for perusal and possible implementation of the research findings in the field.
